Gucci Fall/Winter 2013

Gucci Fall/Winter 2013 collection caught my eyes out of the many brands I must say. Scrolling through a fashion magazine, I notice the varieties of colors used in Gucci’s fabric and it look absolutely stunning.

Inspiration: A new take on the English gentleman.

Frida Giannini, creative director of Gucci, used traditional fabrics as the starting point for the collection. Gucci took a more relax approach this season but borrowing from the cavalry soldier’s wardrobe.

I like how the colors go so well and the variety of it being used. Besides the cutting fits the models as well as us average men. I do hope to see more people dressing like this rather than the normal black and white formal wear. I would love to get my hands on these design.

One thing I love is the coats from Gucci, they looked decent and I would love to have them all! =D

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013

I haven’t update on runway shows for sometime, so I thought I like to cover one. Previously I cover Burberry Prorsum Spring 2014 (link), so why not do a flash back to Fall 2013, which is more relevant since it’s going to be Fall soon.

Animal prints were all over the details: pointy leopard shoes, a tiger lapel on a tech-fabric jacket, some zebra. And yes, there was a conventionally pleasing camel duffel coat, but another coat in camel had a black leather revers. – Style

This season, it went back to more classic. I know some fans of Burberry would get it, since it can be easily recognize, but I would prefer a more extreme edge to it, try new designs though. I don’t dislike this collection, but having more edge to it, challenging the fashion would be more interesting to me.

One thing that caught my eye in particular is the bag the models were carrying. What do you think of it? Would you carry it?

This bag cost $1595 (USD), which is so expensive for a guy like me. However if price was not involve, I actually do imagine myself carrying a bag like this, however it needs to be well paired with your outfit and events to not look feminine since a round shape bag don’t give a very manly impression.

Tell me what do you think of it? If you like me to cover any specific topics, do comment or e-mail me.

Longchamp – A Brief Introduction to it’s Men’s Bag.

It took me awhile to find an interesting post to write about for a lazy Sunday night. I came across Longchamp website and found out that there were actually Men’s bag. It was very surprising for me, because whenever I thought of Longchamp, I thought of bags that are like the picture below.

Therefore, being the fashion addict that I am, I went to it’s website and scout out all the bag that I wish to have, but no money to afford. Longchamp’s design is very simple, nothing too complicated, however sometimes simplicity is attractive as well.

Longchamp 3D Men’s Collection

“Combining a modern sensibility with a love of symmetry, Longchamp’s 3D collection subverts traditional barren minimalism with graphic design: “straight-cut leather, lines in relief for a 3D feel and geometric eyelets”. The collection is designed for the young professional, the ‘urban consumer’ who covets style and a ‘controlled, casual look’.” Fashionbeans.

£595, available in black, cognac and earth

Something a little pricey from my perspective, but are practical and functional bags.

Safari-Sur-Seine Men’s Collection

This collection however looks more interesting to myself and is something I would use more often.

They called this the hobo bag.

I like the last one, it is very suitable for a casual/semi-formal event at the same time looking fashionable. Get me one? =D

Longchamp do not have much men’s collection, I don’t see much advertisement and stores bringing in Longchamp Men’s Collection, therefore I believe they are fairly new to men’s collection, so we have to see what is installed in the future Longchamp Men’s Collection. At least now I know what to get if I ever will be in Paris. What do you guys think of their collection?

Cory Monteith

If you guys have heard about the recent news, Cory Monteith passed away on July 13, 2013 with only 31 years of age. To whom ever who doesn’t know, Cory Monteith played Finn Hudson in the series, Glee. I don’t think I need to explain to you what is Glee. I won’t deny that Glee has helped me through some of my tough times, his character was a part of it and therefore hearing him passing was quite heartbreaking.

I shall dedicate this post to Cory Monteith, for always the Finn Hudson, the quarterback who has a passion for singing and is not afraid to show it. You will be missed. I do hope you are in a better place now and my prayers go out to Lea Michele and his family.

I wanted to honor him, but was afraid that somehow it may be out of topic from the blog, so let’s honor him with his style throughout the years.

Cory and Finn had some similarities when comes to fashion, he dressed very simple with not much distinctive colours on him, the “jock” style.

Even though without much colours, his jackets looked pretty decent.

I personally like the left picture, Kid Choice Award 2011 where he rocked a scarf with his semi formal outfit.

Cory Monteith looked absolutely stunning in suit. I think he should have wore suit all the time because I believe that he wears suit much better than his regular clothes.

What better accessory can you have when Lea Michele is beside you? Both of them looked stunning and fantastic.

If your body is build like Cory Monteith, which is VERY tall and broad shoulders, the “jock” body type. I presume you would dress something like he does, but here are some small tips when it comes to fashion.
– Add some distinctive colours to your wardrobe, black and white is quite boring, don’t be afraid to wear red once in a while.
– Sneakers, boots do look good on you, so don’t always wear the same shoes everyday.
– Well-fitted suits are a must.
– Long pants should not be too short, because you are tall and the fitting sometimes don’t go right, but never settle for less.
– If you are not fit, wear more shirts to cover the belly of yours.

Here are just some tips, but do leave comments on what you think. Once again, my deepest condolence and I do hope Lea and his family make it through. ='(

Prada Menswear Spring 2014

As models still stroll down the runways of top designers fashion shows, I shall be here covering more of it. I promise for a fashion tip post soon. Here is another fashion brand where I am always fascinated about.

Prada Menswear Spring 2014.

“Menacing Paradise” was the name given the painted façades that defined the show space today: palm fronds, sunsets, an equatorial town. The tropical paradise Miuccia offered in her clothes was a dark place, its sun a lowering, lurid threat. It put you in mind of all those movies set in the tropics where everything goes badly for the characters. Quoted by Style.

This collection was obviously inspired by tropical paradise where after having a look through the collection, I instantly thought of Hawaii or Maldives, anywhere with sea and breeze and it’s a good thing. I find Prada’s designs are more daring! Miuccia Prada challenge the statement of fashion and style which isn’t what we see that will be on “typical” suit. That’s my opinion though, that’s the reason why I like Prada.

Well, do you guys think the top 2 collection is consider formal? I think it’s depending. Summer is definitely a time to wear something like that and be called formal, but it all depends on the places and people you are meeting. I love the printed shirts though.

I find no matter how they challenge the fashion industry, they still bring elegance to the brand and collection. I find these 4 collection stood out among the rest, though some collection from this season is something I would personally not wear.

I personally do not have any Prada items, but it’s in one of my wishlist to get some of these collections. What do you guys think of Prada and it’s Spring 2014 collection?

Topman Design Spring 2013

Topman is one of the most well-known menswear fashion brand in the UK. It has broaden it’s international market by exporting to the United States about a year plus ago. I personally like Topman, with it’s unique Britain style that we always see the UK band One Direction rocking it and definitely it’s rather cheap items.

Topman Design slowly pushes the boundary of menswear throughout the years with more and more interesting designs. I believe it’s style do not cater for everyone, but people who dare to push the limits of fashion.

This time, Topman Design Spring 2013 was influenced by the skate-surf-grunge story at California. It’s style definitely gives us the ghetto style from the hoods but with a decent British feeling to it. I think it’s rather interesting.

I wouldn’t say I would wear the match of clothings above out because to be honest, it isn’t my style, but I definitely don’t mind getting parts of the clothing, because some actually looked nice. Not the shorts, but I love the suits, sweaters and beanies on the models above because it actually looks decent! I guess that’s what style is about, getting different items from different brands to create my own unique style.

What do you guys think of Topman Design? Is the runway clothes too extreme or you would wear it? Photos and Reference are from Style.

What to know about men eyebrow grooming?

I came across a topic this week which I find confused. Not sure about you guys out there, but there’s always been this question that, should men groom their eyebrows?

Like every other person, when there’s a question, I often search the internet for info and so here is my conclusion to what I think of this topic as well as what you can do. In this modern day society, looking pleasant has become a role both gender plays. Guys are more focus on fashion, style and appearance much more compared to the olden days, therefore grooming is one of them. I do think grooming your eyebrows is a essential modern men lifestyle where there shouldn’t be a shame of doing it as a men.

Definitely, grooming eyebrows need a knowledge and we don’t want any mistakes that may affect your appearance in any way. Eyebrows can be thread, trim or even shave (though I am sure no one’s gonna shave them). Celebrities groom them all the time, don’t tell me you never look at Zac Efron’s eyebrow and be like “I want them!”

What I came across is men do not need to do much for their eyebrows. Just regular tweezing would be fine. The question is how do we do that?

Trim away stray hairs around your eyebrow.

Look at the natural curve that god gave you for your eyebrows, my first rule is to never change the arch or shape of it! Men want to groom their eyebrow of stray hairs, not changing the whole arch, because it may turn out feminine. Besides, the best is that you groom your eyebrow without getting notice for grooming it, sounds weird, but it’s the truth. So basically, you trim away stray hairs around your eyebrow that is not from the arch, mostly from the bottom of the eyebrow and the top outside of the eyebrow.

Where the eyebrow should start.

image from hair removal.

Some men may have uni brow which apparently isn’t attractive but a distraction to many. Therefore, I would suggest trim it with a reference of the picture above.

What to use for grooming of eyebrows?

A simple tweezers should be fine which you can get from your local pharmacy. Nothing too pricey with an angle tip should be fine. At first, it will be very painful for grooming, but you will get used to it.

What do you guys think of men eyebrow grooming? Do you think it’s a must for a guy? Or it doesn’t affect much? Would like to know what everyone thinks!
