Should You Wear Deodorant?

DSC_0012

See what I got a few days ago? Thanks dad for the deodorant! First, he did not get me because I stink! I actually use lots of perfume daily, haha! He had some extra laying around, therefore he gave me. Now I have a dilemma on whether which to use, Gucci Guilty or Escape by Calvin Klein.

Deodorant

I might as well take this opportunity to talk about deodorant. Should guys wear deodorant? I know the answer seemed obvious, but I know people who don’t wear it. Let me tell you my personal opinion on this topic.

Male often have a strong body odour which could be a NO for most female. The hair under the armpits also trap sweats and the smell would repel anyone away! I am sure that was why the deodorant was invented. Deodorant basically is to remove the smell to keep you smelling fresh throughout the day.

However, one of the main reason people would not want to use deodorant is that it block pores which would bring harm to the skin. I would say this is also a factor that got me hesitant in using it.

Deodorants are safe, according to the FDA:

  • The FDA issued a final rule in June 2003 establishing conditions under which over-the-counter (OTC) antiperspirants are generally recognized as safe and effective, and are not misbranded. The final rule establishes allowable ingredients and labeling for the products. (Translation: The mainstream stuff at CVS is FDA-approved.)

But some experts say deodorants are not safe at all:

  • Christine Harlow, a.k.a. “The Ingredients Investigator,” who has been researching the safety of the ingredients in common personal care products since 1991, says most deodorant isn’t safe and is loaded with toxic chemicals.

You guys be the judge!

Since we are in this topic, why don’t I talk about the difference in both spray and stick deodorant. Pros and cons on both this deodorant: (from my perspective)

Stick deodorant:

Pros:

  • No need for ventilation. You can use a stick deodorant anywhere and needn’t worry about inhaling the fumes.
  • No streaks. Back in the day, this stuff left marks on your clothing. Nowadays it doesn’t.

Cons:

It’s thick. It may not seem that way right now, but if you switch to light and airy spray, you will think stick deodorant is downright archaic and dense.

Spray deodorant:

Pros:

  • This stuff feels nice and silky on your skin! Won’t make you feel like you’ve smeared lard all over yourself.
  • The mist isn’t nearly as bad as it used to be and makes you feel quite fresh. (Although, obviously, you should still use it in a ventilated area and be sure pets and children aren’t underfoot at the time.)

Cons:

Depending on brand, some spray doesn’t make you feel like there’s an effect on you and it actually finish quite fast!

For me, I use deodorant and perfume depends on the occasion. Most time, I just put quite a huge amount of perfume because I am using Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch and I love the smell. I actually scare that deodorant might be harmful therefore the seldom usage of it. What do you guys think? All info here are base on my opinion, drop your opinion and let me know!

Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch

I believe all of us are suppose to have a signature smell. Cologne or perfume for that matter is a must in every guys room. It’s not only reduce the chances of you stinking but also attract the girls at the same time. I believe that guys should stick to one perfume as their signature smell so that when you walked past, people know it’s you.

I try to suggest stuff every week on what you should get based on my recommendation. Something like Ian’s pick of the week. The current cologne I am using is Fierce, by Abercrombie and Fitch. It’s no secret I absolutely am fascinated with the brand. I adore the smell of Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch, therefore making it my signature smell. If you are in your teenage and young adult years, I definitely recommend you to try this cologne on, because you might fall in love with it as much as I do.

Fierce Abercrombie and Fitch

I attempted to take a photo of my bottle of Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch, but it didn’t turn out well, therefore photo is from Abercrombie and Fitch. Many people have told me it’s a nice smell, therefore I would only recommend it. It comes in 1000mL and the more regular size of 1.0, 1.7, 3.4, 6.7oz. You don’t need a Litre of cologne no matter how much you love the brand! I wish I could let you smell this perfume, but technology is not that great yet, so do check it out in your local stores. If not get them and you won’t regret!

Up by Jawbone

I understand that fashion may not be for every guys, which is fine. It’s like not every guys like cars but we need to have some knowledge about it, same goes for fashion. However, to keep my blog and post interesting, I decided that why not I add gadgets into my blog posts so we can talk about it. Hopefully I can cover 4 different topics weekly: outfit of the day, fashion news, what to get and one more gadgets/accessories.

Today I like to talk about a new gadget I got about a month ago from the united states. Up by Jawbone. It’s a bracelet like device that helps calculate the steps one take daily and the amount of sleep with a press of a button. Yup, it actually does that! It syncs with an app call Up by Jawbone available on IPhone and Andriod. Besides tabulating your data, you can key in the amount of calories intake that day and it will also provide you advice on health.

Basically it does:
✔ Track your sleep & physical activity
✔ Log your food & drink & track nutritional info
✔ Get insights to help you set & achieve your goals
✔ Set Smart Sleep Alarms to wake up refreshed
✔ Set Idle Alerts to remind you to move
✔ Team up with friends in the app and live better together

I actually find this very amazing because it can calculate the amount of light and deep sleep you have per day, not sure how accurate it is, but it’s still amazing. I believe with this gadgets, it will make people want to walk more and be healthier, even though not dramatically changing his or her lifestyle, but with slight changes. One of the reason is that the app will set a target of 10,000 steps per day, so we tend to take up the challenge to reach the goal, therefore making us walk more and burn more calories.

I’m all for health. No matter how much gym you go to, enough sleep is just as important. Here are a few closer look at the app itself.

My daily sleep and steps, as shown I am not getting much sleep these days. Not a good sign.

The tips they gave me.

I talk about it’s functionality, but base on fashion point of view, where does this gadget stands? To me, I find the design is very attractive that could be wore for almost everything, it’s simple and mono-colour design makes it literally like a bracelet where we can wear to gym, class, dates and many more. However, it’s design maybe to casual for a formal event which I don’t recommend wearing to it, unless it’s perfectly covered under your long sleeve shirt. I’ve been wearing mine everyday, day and night though, I find it easy to match my watch and clothes since I got black, I guess in my point of view, it’s a yes! What do you guys think? Would you get it?
