MR. PORTER.COM Global Style Campaign – Fall Edition

 

I know it doesn’t snow in Malaysia, but I love fall fashion so much! I believe it’s the time of the year when you can wear a jacket out, but it’s not too cold either. I am completely nuts about fall fashion. Definitely I took this opportunity to post about what I would wear for fall if I experienced it.

Talk a little bit of my own personal style if you haven’t already knew. My personal style varies though. I don’t stick to a specific style but I love to try on new stuff. Some days I like simple sophisticated style, some days I just love to test the limits. I do dress in styles that suit me as well, like my image. My style may not scream loudly for attention but it’s decent and hopefully when I walk in the streets, people do notice the details I wore.

“The years go by and the time just seems to fly but the memories remain.” My tagline for this outfit of the day (because it’s cool to have one).

I’d rather be in NYC

LookBook recently had a competition a few months back on to post your outfit that you would wear if you were to be chosen to attend New York Fashion Week. Being the fashion addict that I am, I definitely pull together some outfit and start shooting.

One of them was trying to look formal with hints of casual in it.

I must say I have quite a few number of jackets at home, but because of the weather in Malaysia, I couldn’t wear them on a regular basis. This Zara jacket is one of my favourite which looks bring a sense of youthful formality to it. I got this in the states and I must say it was love at first sight!

The t-shirt was from a thrift shop in Bangkok. Basically it shows how I love NYC. Never been there before, but hopefully one day I will. Thrift shopping actually is good since you can get nice items very cheap. My t-shirt cost only RM15/$5usd. 

Who says holding a notebook isn’t cool? Thought it added a sense of formality and passion to the outfit. Starbucks notebook are actually well design and it’s just nice holding it.

The maroon chinos makes the outfit looked more modern and interesting.

Down in New York City

Fashion is always my dream and what better way to explore more about it is a trip to New York for it’s fashion week? This look is inspired by New York, with a sweater showing NYC. Fall is coming, therefore sweaters are one way to travel around with, it could also be tied around the neck as an accessory.

T-shirt is from Abercrombie and Fitch, because the flagship store is in NYC.

The sweater was one of my recent acquires, link. It was so worth it, it is comfortable and I love the design as well. Even though it is hot outside now, it is nice to wear to the movies or classes. For people whose country is starting fall soon, it can be mix and match to your everyday clothing.

Outfit of the Day – Dance All Night to the Best Song Ever

Mind my title. Was feeling the vibe of it, as well as One Direction released a new song.

Dance All Night to the Best Song Ever.

 

I finally had the chance to wear the shirt I bought a few days ago. It was perfect for a full day of chilling at the mall and dinner occasion with my friends. I really loved the polka dots on the shirt and the colour is so nice! Not a single regret spending money on this!

I matched it up with a grey jeans from Levi’s. Levi’s Skinny fit jeans 511 and my Timberland shoes. I did not feel like mixing too many colours into my outfit as I want my shirt to stand out which it did very well. 

The accessories were the same as my usual, a Calvin Klein watch because I love it so much and Up by Jawbone accessory to track my daily steps which I talked about it from my earlier post.

For the shoes though, I never had much chance and items to go with it, so rather than the regular blue or black dress shoes, I chose something more striking and mature with this outfit.

#AbercrombieHOT

Outfit of the day is back, haven’t gotten the time to photograph this. Life has been hectic, therefore so sorry for the late post.

This outfit is inspired by the staff and models of my favourite brand Abercrombie and Fitch. Their signature checkered shirt with a ripped jeans and a flip-flops is what most of the Abercrombie stores associate wears. I actually add a beg and a watch to suit our everyday life. This fashion is consider casual because of the flops, but you can change it into a semi-formal wear by wearing shoes.

Semi Formal Dinner Wear.

A simple mix and match for you guys out there to have some inspiration on what to wear. I wore this for a birthday celebration recently. Some items are out of fashion, so I tried to find the closest item of the current season. The items are not very expensive, so it’s actually possible for an average person to grab it.

In a previous post, I talked about shirts with “deco”, birds in particular, but recently different designs are out and it’s absolutely gorgeous! from Topman.

My standard burgundy chinos by Topman. The color which is close to red.

Casual 1

 

A fast outfit of the day post. This simple match can be wore to dinner, classes or even day out to the mall. I always like striking polo t that stands out because I find that the dull polo are so boring. Besides, what do you do when your jeans are too long? My suggestion is to fold it below like what I did to start a trend. A simple mix-match today.

Bye bye boring formal wear!

Ever wonder what to wear for presentations / job interviews / work or formal day event? It’s always the black slacks and white shirt match. I know I have gotten bored of that match. I believe adding colours to our everyday clothes will catch people’s attention and definitely make you stand out.

One of my suggestions would be adding colours to your daily outfit. Red chinos with a darker shirt colour and a loafers to show your true personality and get notice for it. It’s semi-formal / formal without looking boring, that’s for sure. I guess you have to know whether is wearing this acceptable to the event you are attending. I know I have been mentioning about chinos in most of my post, but only because I think the variety of colours in your closet would let you dress up more vibrantly everyday.

A short do’s for formal attire:
✔ Have 3 colours or less in your whole outfit to avoid looking distracting
✔ Fitting is the key to every well-dressed outfit
✔ Cologne is a must to avoid inappropriate body odour.

Night Out 1

Ever question what to wear for a night out drinking with your friends? I find guys won’t usually give much thought into dressing for a night out. Usually it’s just a jeans and t-shirt or polo. For me, I would definitely consider what I wear especially for night activities. It won’t hurt putting a little bit more effort dressing to bars and clubs.

I suggest putting on a pair of chinos for a night. I admit it’s not easy to match and most of the time I’m figuring what shirt to match my colour chinos, but a black shirt or t-shirt seldom would go wrong.

It’s amazing sometimes what thrift shop are able to offer. I was glad I went Bangkok earlier this year and got a look at some of the stuff in thrift shops. Surprisingly, it’s design are not bad at all and it’s cheap, therefore more quantity to get! I definitely recommend guys to check out thrift shop for cheap clothing once in a while. Hope I inspired you to wear something rather than t-shirt and jeans on nights out. What’s your opinion on it? There’s definitely more to come on these topics.
